MAIN STAGE ENTERTAINMENT Under the Big Pavilion Friday, June 25 - 6:30 p.m. to MidnightOpening Act: Josh Ward Band
Josh Ward and his band have a unique style of traditional honky-tonk mixed with Texas Attitude and Good Ol’ Southern Rock. Lead Singer, Josh Ward, Has a unique almost un-touchable voice that grabs your attention. Just a few songs into a set and you will see just why the Josh Ward Band is turning heads everywhere they perform.
Josh Ward's influences stretch back to some of the founding fathers of country music like Hank and Lefty, to the outlaws like Waylon and Willie, all the way up to the modern day Texas/Red Dirt music stars like Cross Canadian Ragweed, Pat Green, Wade Bowen and Jason Boland. Add in some rock and blues for a little extra flavor, and that’s what makes up a Josh Ward Show. Josh Ward and his band lean toward the country side of Texas Music, however, a couple times a night they crank it up and get rowdy. Whether its traditional country, old time Rock & Roll, or Texas Music Fans looking for a good time, Josh Ward leaves no one disappointed, and everyone asking for more!
Followed by: Jeremy Steding It was April of 2007 when the story began. Armed with passion and a desire to create, Jeremy Steding headed west to Austin, TX with an unmastered, unreleased album in tow (“Whiskey Songs and Prison Songs.”) Jeremy brought with him a deep admiration for great Texas music and the intense desire to be an integral part of it. Unique and individual, Jeremy has quickly become a staple in the Texas Music Scene, and those who know him best, truly believe in his future.
“Auburn”, a single from Jeremy's debut CD, was highly acclaimed, and one of the very few songs to spend a great deal of time on the Texas Music Chart without the aid of a professional radio promoter. The powers that be are taking notice, and Jeremy is now working with Smith Music, bringing the audience a damn good alternative to mainstream music. Steding is working hard, hitting the pavement and building a rock-solid foundation with his songwriting and musicianship.
Headliner: Wade Bowen {Born and raised in Waco, TX, singer/songwriter Wade Bowen started his musical career in the band West 84 with longtime friend Matt Miller. In 2001, after flirting with the idea of life outside of the music business (he graduated from Texas Tech with a public relations degree) Bowen decided to head out on his own, self-releasing his 2002 debut Try Not to Listen and playing up to 250 gigs a year. The hard work eventually paid off as the title track climbed into the Top Ten on the Texas music chart, and the rising star began planning his follow-up. Live at the Blue Light and Lost Hotel arrived in 2006, both of which were released on the Sustain label, and earned him an audience outside of his Texas homeland. Collaborations with Pat Green, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Radney Foster, Randy Rogers, Brandon Rhyder, Bleu Edmondson, and brother-in-law Cody Canada of Cross Canadian Ragweed followed, with a new album If We Ever Make It Home arriving in 2008. ~ James Christopher Monger, All Music Guide
