I plan to attend Baylor University to study Law.
Why is the Watermelon Thump such an Integral part of Luling’s heritage?
The Watermelon Thump is such an integral part of Luling’s heritage because it highlights how the community truly comes together as a family surrounded with laughter and love the celebration in which has been celebrated generation after generation where families continue to grow together attending it every year it’s one of the © biggest events of the year in lulling local businesses, schools, and organizations all participate making it a major source of community pride.
Why do you want to run for watermelon thump queen?
I want to run for The Watermelon thump queen because the thump is such an important part of our town’s tradition and identity. Growing up in lulling, I’ve seen how the lulling watermelon thump brings our community together and celebrates our agriculture roots. It would be an honor to represent a festival that highlights local pride, hard work, and unity. Involved in Volleyball and Cheer have taught me discipline, teamwork, and how to encourage others, while writing for the school newsletter has helped communicate clearly and help represent my school with positivity. I also believe representation matters. As an African American student actively involved in extracurricular activities, I hope to show younger students that they can step up, get involved and lead with confidence. If chosen, I would proudly represent Lulling with integrity, school spirit, and dedication to our community.
What quality do you possess that are inherent in a leadership position such as watermelon thump queen?
Leadership, to me is about influence, integrity, and service I believe I possess the confidence, resilience, and heart that a role as watermelon thump queen requires. Through Volleyball and Cheer I have learned how to lead under pressure uplift my teammates and remained disciplined even when things get challenging. Those experiences has shaped me into someone who leads not just with words, but with actions. Being involved in our schools newsletter has strengthen my voice, has taught me how to communicate clearly, represent others respectfully, and stand confidently in who I am. I understand that leadership is about making other feel seen and valued. As a young African American woman actively involved in my school, and my community I carry a deep since of responsibility to lead with courage and authenticity. I want younger students to see that leadership has no single look it is defined by character, commitment, and heart. I am passionate about serving my community and representing Luling with pride, strength, and grace if chosen as watermelon thump queen I will not only wear the crown I will carry the responsibility that comes with it, honoring our town’s tradition while inspiring other to step forward boldly.
