About the Watermelon Thump Queen Program
Grace, tradition, and hometown pride on display.
The Watermelon Thump Queen program is one of the most cherished traditions of Thump weekend, celebrating young women who reflect the heart, character, and community spirit of Luling. Each year, contestants take part in a series of events that highlight leadership, poise, and dedication to the festival that has brought our community together for generations.
Throughout the weekend, candidates participate in activities that allow them to connect with festival guests, represent the Watermelon Thump, and share in the excitement of one of Texas’ most beloved festivals. The Queen’s Coronation is held at 7:00 PM on Thursday evening of Thump weekend under the Thump Pavilion, where family, friends, and the community gather to celebrate the crowning of the new Watermelon Thump Queen.
