WHY IS THE WATERMELON THUMP SUCH AN INTEGRAL PART OF LULING’S HERITAGE: 

Luling has a long history of Watermelon growing and selling, with many families passing down the tradition to their children. It has taught many generations important work ethics and discipline to tend the crops. Watermelons are the staple of the town with many tenured growers still set up at the Farmer Market (scales) today. It brings locals together each year to take pride in their loca! grower’s hard work and dedication to growing melons each year. Many families plan events around the Watermelon Thump which keeps Luling the highlight of the summer for many locals who have moved away. 

WHY DO YOU WANT TO RUN FOR WATERMELON THUMP QUEEN: 

I have lived in Luling my entire life and have attended every Watermelon Thump since I was 6 months old. The Queen’s coronation has always been by favorite part, as well as the rides. I have watched many candidates campaign with many unique styles. I always look forward to this time of the year to see the excitement that builds up to the actual festival 

because I have dreamed of the time when it would be my turn to campaign and it is finaily here. I want to spend my time campaigning and meeting new people to tell them all about Watermelon Thump and about Luling’s heritage. I want to ride the iconic Watermelon Float with my friends and candidates and make memories that will last forever. I want to be part of Luling’s Watermelon Thump tradition for life, and winning Queen is the ultimate dream come true for me. 

WHAT QUALITIES DO YOU POSSES THAT ARE INHERENT IN LEADERSHIP POSITION 

SUCH AS WATERMELON THUMP QUEEN? 

Becoming Thump Queen has always been my dream and have watched many Queens in this role. I have seen that you need to follow rules, be kind, and always show grace to others. I can do these things well and would be a great role model for others to always try their hardest when chasing their dreams. To be a great leader you must encourage others to work hard by working hard yourself and always show respect. I can lead by example and show others how to represent Luling in a positive way.
